in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.
Situated in the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Kelowna is a
4 hour drive east from Vancouver (400km), or a 7 hour drive west from
Calgary (through the Rocky Mountains).
Kelowna is one of the fastest growing
cities in the country as baby boomers thinking of early retirement
discover its four-season appeal. It is one of a very few places in
the world where you can catch some great spring skiing in the morning,
and follow it up with an afternoon boating on the lake (if you're
brave).
The Okanagan is also becoming world famous
for its wines. The valley is set in a semi-arid belt, providing both
soil and climate similar to California's Napa Valley. The region
now features approximately 70 wineries, many of which are world-class.
The valley is also known for its orchard industry.
